On Tuesday, while with Hillary and Chelsea Clinton at UN Headquarters in New York, Ban Ki-moon reaffirmed the UN’s commitment to gender equality.
Before leaving for the Winter Olympics in Sochi, the Secretary-General stressed the power of sport to unite people regardless of gender or sexual orientation. At this year’s Games women will be competing for the first time in the ski jump.
“You will not see me at the top of the jump,” he said, “but I will be rooting for women athletes to jump as high and leap as far, I think that’s very likely”.
